Comprehensive coverage of all aspects of Canadian life. Articles deal with various aspects of  the arts, including native and Inuit art. More than 3500 biographies covering all periods and regions. Current research in women's and native studies is also included.

Comprehensive and for general use. Basic overview of art related topics dealing with subjects ranging from art collecting to major art movements. Coverage of Canada is substantial and includes short articles on Canadian art and architecture. Numerous illustrations.

Coverage of the arts in this authoritative work includes major articles covering a wide range of topics from philosophy of art to art collecting. Extensive articles on major art movements. Originally published in 1988, this second edition includes more than 100 new entries. Covers prehistory to present, but does not include artists born after 1945. Brief entries include biographies, art-related terms, and art movements. Major Canadian artists included.

Comprehensive overview of Western art forms and of individual artists from antiquity to contemporary. Architecture is not included while painting, sculpture and graphic arts or design are. No major article on Canadian art, but articles on well-known Canadian artists and movements are included. Cross-references.

This revised and expanded edition covers paintings sculptures, drawings and prints and artists and historical styles and movements including contemporary art. Over 2500 entries and 400 illustrations. Canadian coverage is minimal. Cross references.
